Atuabo Gas Processing Plant to undergo 2-week scheduled maintenance from 16 August

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has approved a request by the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) to carry out a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant from 16 August to August 30.

According to the Ministry, the exercise forms part of government’s commitment to ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of the facility.

During this period, the supply of gas from the plant will be temporarily suspended to enable critical maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and upgrades to essential equipment and systems.

“These works are necessary to enhance the plant’s operational efficiency and overall performance,” the Ministry stated.

To minimise disruptions, the Ministry says it is working closely with key players in the power sector to implement measures that will sustain electricity supply across the country.

“These measures include the strategic deployment of alternative fuel sources to ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply during the maintenance period,” it noted.

Reaffirming its pledge to maintain a dependable power supply, the Ministry assured the public that it would “provide regular updates on the progress of the ongoing maintenance.”

Richmond Rockson, Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry, signed the statement on behalf of the Minister.
