Energy Minister swears in reconstituted GNPC Board

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has officially sworn in a newly reconstituted Governing Board for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). 

The ceremony, held on Tuesday, follows the announcement from the Office of the President confirming the appointment of the new board, chaired by Prof. Joseph Oteng-Adjei.

The reconstituted board is expected to provide strategic direction as GNPC continues to advance its mandate in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector. 

According to the Energy Ministry, the appointments reflect government’s renewed focus on strengthening GNPC’s operations to promote efficiency, stimulate investment growth, and ensure long-term energy security.

The new board includes Prof. Joseph Oteng-Adjei as Chairman, Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah (Acting CEO), Yo Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah (MP), Seidu Alhassan Alajor (MP), Mr. Mawutor Agbavitor, and Mr. Kwame Jantuah, Esq. 

Their diverse backgrounds are expected to contribute significantly to the corporation’s renewed direction.

In his remarks, Mr. Jinapor noted that the government is currently reviewing the GNPC Act (PNDC Law 64) to bring it in line with current industry developments and international best practices. 

He emphasised that this reform effort is timely, as Ghana faces declining oil production and must reposition GNPC to harness emerging opportunities across the petroleum value chain.
