Ghanaian chef and entrepreneur Nhyiraba Zulaiha has successfully completed her ambitious 192-hour cookathon challenge, surpassing the current benchmark for the world’s longest cooking marathon.
The founder of Nhyiraba’s Kitchen wrapped up the challenge after spending more than eight consecutive days cooking, marking a major milestone in her quest for global recognition.
The event drew widespread support from food lovers, well-wishers, and members of the public who followed her journey from start to finish.
The cookathon began on June 1 at the Madina Zongo Astro Turf in Accra, where Chef Zulaiha set out to break the existing record.
Throughout the challenge, she prepared a variety of meals while demonstrating impressive endurance, dedication, and culinary expertise.
Following the completion of the marathon, Chef Zulaiha expressed her appreciation to everyone who supported and encouraged her during the record attempt. She described the achievement as a proud moment and a testament to hard work and perseverance.
Beyond breaking a record, the cookathon was also aimed at promoting Ghanaian cuisine, inspiring aspiring chefs, and showcasing the country’s growing food industry to a global audience.Although the challenge has ended, the achievement is still awaiting official verification.
Guinness World Records will review evidence submitted by her team, including video recordings, witness reports, and time logs, before confirming whether a new world record has been set.If approved, Chef Zulaiha’s accomplishment will place her among a growing number of African chefs using endurance cooking challenges to spotlight local cuisine and celebrate national pride.
For now, supporters continue to celebrate the remarkable feat while awaiting the final decision.
