The University for Development Studies (UDS) has intensified preparations for the upcoming 2025 World University Games in Dalian, China, after beginning residential camping on July 6.
UDS earned their ticket to the global stage in emphatic fashion, defeating co-hosts University of Lagos (UNILAG) 3-0 in the final of the FASU Games to be crowned African champions.
Their victory cemented their place as the sole African representative at this year’s competition scheduled for September.
The team is led by a star-studded squad featuring players with top-level experience from the Ghana Premier League and the Access Bank Division One League

Standout names such as Asigre Sulemana, Labando Yakubu, Ronald Frimpong, Ezedeen Alhassan, Fauzan Dandawa, and George Renchi are all part of the side, raising expectations ahead of the global showpiece.
Training sessions have focused on tactical sharpness, physical conditioning, and team chemistry, with morale in camp described as high.
The World University Games will provide UDS with a platform to showcase the strength of African university football.
As preparations continue, hopes are high that UDS will carry the continent’s flag with pride and deliver a memorable performance in China.
