The mother of late actress and voice star Daveigh Chase has shared heartbreaking details about her daughter’s difficult struggles with addiction in the years before her death.
Cathy Chase revealed that she was devastated after learning about the passing of her daughter, describing the moment as one of the most painful experiences of her life.
Daveigh, best known for her roles in The Ring and as the voice of Lilo in Lilo & Stitch, died on June 16 at the age of 35 following health complications, including meningitis and a blood infection.
According to Cathy, her daughter’s struggles began years earlier after she was prescribed strong pain medication, including oxycodone, following a motorcycle accident in 2016.
She said Daveigh later became involved with people who introduced her to drugs, which marked the beginning of a difficult period in her life.
Cathy recalled the last time she saw her daughter in 2019 when she visited her while Daveigh was in jail. She said she barely recognized her daughter at the time and believed substance abuse had deeply affected her.
The grieving mother explained that she never stopped hoping Daveigh would return home and insisted that she always supported her daughter despite the challenges they faced.After years without seeing her, Cathy said she regularly searched medical records hoping she would never find her daughter’s name.
When news of Daveigh’s death surfaced, she initially thought it was untrue.She later identified her daughter’s body and shared that she found comfort in being able to pray and say goodbye.Daveigh Chase became a familiar face in Hollywood at a young age, gaining recognition for her acting and voice work.
