Volta Catch Tilapia joins JoySports Invitational Tournament 2025

Volta Catch Tilapia, produced by leading aquaculture company Tropo Farms Ltd, has confirmed its participation in the JoySports Invitational Tournament 2025, scheduled for August 9 at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The tournament, which brings together businesses, corporate institutions, and sports enthusiasts, aims to promote wellness, teamwork, and networking through sports.

This year’s event is supported by a strong line-up of sponsors, including Royal Sweet Limited, (Akonor Ginger, Afriwara) Ayuda, (App Baako, Services Beberee) The Game Energy (Feel the Energy), Yomi Yoghurt (A Nourishing Choice), and Luckiest *712# (Luck Is Everywhere).

Volta Catch Tilapia’s involvement adds further value to the tournament, given Tropo Farms’ strong reputation in Ghana’s agribusiness sector. Established in 1997 in Asutsuare in the Eastern Region, Tropo Farms has grown to become West Africa’s largest producer of tilapia, with operations now centred at Mpakadan on the Volta Lake. The company is targeting 30,000 metric tonnes of annual production by 2030 as part of its contribution to food security and economic development.

Tropo Farms operates a fully integrated aquaculture model, ensuring quality control from hatchery through to distribution. Under its flagship Volta Catch Tilapia brand, the company supplies fresh fish nationwide through depots in Tema, Kasoa, Malata New Town, Kumasi, Takoradi, and a flagship store at Atimpoku roundabout. The company’s commitment to high food safety and environmental standards is reflected in its reputation for delivering safe and quality fish protein to Ghanaian households and businesses.

In 2024, Tropo Farms received three major industry awards at the Aquaculture Ghana Awards: Aquaculture Cage Farm of the Year, Aquaculture Marketer of the Year, and Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year. These honours recognised the company’s excellence in operations, marketing, and community engagement. Additionally, at the World Aquaculture Safari 2025 held in Uganda, Tropo Farms contributed to discussions on key industry issues such as water resource management, biosecurity, and financing for aquaculture growth across the continent.

Beyond production, Tropo Farms is noted for its contribution to employment and skills development within Ghana, particularly among communities along the Volta Lake. With over 1,000 employees, the company supports livelihoods, promotes careers in aquaculture, and advocates for the nutritional value of locally farmed tilapia.

Volta Catch Tilapia’s participation in the JoySports Invitational Tournament aligns with its broader objectives of promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting platforms that encourage collaboration across Ghana’s corporate and business communities.

The JoySports Invitational Tournament 2025 is expected to attract a wide range of participants from key sectors including banking, insurance, technology, legal services, and manufacturing, offering opportunities not only for competition but also for networking and business engagement.
