Gyakye Quayson assures cordial collaboration with Ablakwa despite age gap

Deputy Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, has expressed confidence in establishing a productive working relationship with his ministerial boss, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, despite being older than him.

Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament during his vetting on Friday, Mr Quayson addressed questions regarding the age difference, insisting it would not hinder their collaboration.

“I know Africa has a very esteemed culture where children listen to their parents, so I am hoping, and I am sure and certain that Minister Ablakwa and I, as I said earlier, have a relationship that dates back to 2021, and I am going to continue with that relationship,” he stated.

He described the North Tongu MP as a longstanding friend with whom he has shared mutual respect, adding that their existing rapport would serve as a strong foundation for teamwork at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“You see, when he succeeds, I succeed, so we are going to succeed together,” Mr Quayson said.
