The Western Central Regional Police Command, through the Asankragwa Division, have arrested a suspect, Daniel Yeboah, found in possession of 66 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp.
He was arrested at the Samreboi-Tanokrom snap checkpoint on July 31, 2025.
According to a statement released by the police, Mr Yeboah was travelling on a tri-cycle (Pragia) when police stopped and searched him, discovering two travelling bags containing the parcels.
The suspect claimed that the packages were handed to him by a woman in Wenchi for delivery at Mumuni Camp, near Samreboi, and that he was paid GH₵5,000 for the task.

Following the arrest, the police launched an immediate investigation and are making strenuous efforts to apprehend the woman linked to the case to aid further enquiries.
The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned before the court on Monday, 4th August 2025.
The Regional Police Command is appealing to the public for any information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the woman or any details relevant to the investigation.
