Government spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has joined a growing chorus of tributes to the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known professionally as Daddy Lumba.
He described him as a “colossus” whose music gave voice to the human experience in all its forms.
In a Facebook post shared on Saturday, July 26, the Minister reflected on the wide emotional range of Daddy Lumba’s music, which he said captured the soul of a nation.
“He sang of pain, he sang of love, he sang of hope, he sang of triumph, he sang of gratitude, he sang of the battle that life is and then he sang of the inevitability of death,” he wrote.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu praised the late singer’s extraordinary ability to connect with listeners over decades, delivering hit after hit that mirrored the daily lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
“For decades, he seared his voice into our hearts, pulling off hit after hit, reflecting our daily struggles.”
The Minister mourned the unexpected end of Daddy Lumba’s journey, acknowledging the silence left behind by his passing, while affirming that his legacy will endure.
“Today, his life’s journey has come to an unexpected end and his unmistakable voice has gone silent, never to be forgotten.”

Mr Kwakye Ofosu offered prayers for the icon’s eternal rest and extended his condolences to the bereaved family and all who cherished his music.
“May Daddy Lumba find eternal rest and may his loved ones find comfort in their moment of grief.”
