Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has responded to allegations by influencer and content creator Caramel, who accused her of posting an AI-edited version of her photo with Anita’s face replacing her own.
The controversy began after Caramel claimed she returned to Instagram after a short break and discovered that one of her photos had been edited and shared on Anita Joseph’s page. According to her, the image had been altered by removing her face and replacing it with Anita’s before it was posted publicly.
Expressing her disappointment, Caramel shared the original image and questioned why someone would use another person’s photo in such a manner. She later insisted in the comments that the photo had been taken from her, writing, “She stole it.”Reacting to the accusation, Anita Joseph denied intentionally taking Caramel’s photo. She explained that a member of her creative team, whom she referred to as her “AI boy,” created the image using artificial intelligence without informing her of its origin.The actress publicly apologized to Caramel, saying she had no intention of causing trouble and blamed the misunderstanding on her photographer’s use of AI tools. She added that she never expected to be caught up in such a controversy.
The incident quickly sparked debate on social media, with many users divided over who should be held responsible. While some accepted Anita’s explanation and believed she may not have known the image was AI-generated from someone else’s photo, others argued that public figures should verify content before posting it online.
