Nigerian singer Brymo has reignited his long-running feud with Burna Boy after making fresh allegations about the Grammy-winning artist during a recent interview.
Speaking on a digital media platform, Brymo claimed that Burna Boy’s Grammy Award was “bought” and insisted he has no intention of mentioning the Afrofusion star in any of his songs because he does not consider him important enough.
According to Brymo, he was disappointed by Burna Boy’s 2023 freestyle in which the singer referenced him with the lyric, “Hustle so you no go fall off like Brymo.” He said he had previously made it clear that Burna Boy’s name would never appear in his music.Brymo went further to question the credibility of Burna Boy’s Grammy win, alleging that awards can be purchased.
He claimed he was once offered the opportunity to obtain a BET Award for $10,000, using the allegation to support his argument that some international awards are not always earned solely on merit.The singer also stated that Burna Boy had offended him personally and declared that he intends to continue responding to him as their feud remains unresolved.
The rivalry between the two artists dates back to 2023, when Brymo accused Burna Boy of using ideas from his unreleased project, Macabre. He alleged that songs including City Boy and I Told Them contained material inspired by work that had been privately shared with the Grammy-winning artist.
At the time, Brymo also made several claims on social media, accusing Burna Boy of sending people to intimidate him while also calling out other Nigerian music stars.
Burna Boy later responded during a rehearsal freestyle, where he referenced Brymo in a lyric that quickly went viral. Since then, both artists have continued to exchange verbal jabs, with Burna Boy mocking Brymo’s music style and Brymo repeatedly criticizing Burna Boy and other leading Afrobeats stars.Brymo’s latest remarks have once again drawn attention to the ongoing dispute, suggesting that there is still no sign of reconciliation between the two musicians.It is important to note that Brymo’s claims about Burna Boy’s Grammy Award have not been supported by publicly available evidence, and Burna Boy has not responded to the latest allegations.
