Award-winning Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has encouraged young Nigerians to embrace hard work, develop valuable skills and avoid the temptation of making money through dishonest means.Speaking during a recent interview, the actress reflected on her journey to success, revealing that she had opportunities to take the wrong path in life but deliberately chose to work hard and build a legitimate career.
Funke recalled her days as a student at the University of Lagos, where she sold bed spaces to support herself financially. According to her, she was determined to earn an honest living, even if it meant sacrificing comfort and enduring difficult moments.She described herself as a natural hustler whose life experiences shaped her strong work ethic and disciplined mindset.
The actress stressed that education alone is no longer enough in today’s world, urging young people to complement their academic qualifications with practical skills that can provide income when employment opportunities are scarce.Funke explained that learning a trade or acquiring professional skills gives individuals the ability to become financially independent and create opportunities for themselves instead of relying solely on white-collar jobs.
She encouraged youths to remain patient, stay focused on self-development and believe that consistent hard work will eventually produce lasting success.
