Funmi Adelakun, the 37-year-old daughter of renowned Nigerian gospel singer and televangelist Joseph Adelakun, has made an emotional public appeal, asking Nigerians to help her regain what she describes as her freedom.
In a video circulating on social media, Funmi alleged that she has endured years of strict control and mistreatment. She claimed she is constantly being monitored and prevented from making her own life decisions.
According to her, she recently left her family’s home in Lagos in search of independence. Fighting back tears, she pleaded with the public to intervene.”My name is Funmi Adelakun. Please help me beg my father to set me free. I need my freedom because what is happening is very deep.
They should stop monitoring me and trying to control every aspect of my life. This has been going on for a long time. I need my freedom, and this is the height of it. I will explain everything better soon.”Her emotional video has sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing concern and calling for the family to resolve the matter peacefully.
As of the time of this report, Joseph Adelakun has not publicly responded to his daughter’s allegations.
