Afrobeats star Qing Madi has publicly accused her former record label boss, Joy Tongo, of forging her signature and misappropriating her earnings amid an ongoing dispute over her music catalog.
The singer made the allegations during a TikTok livestream while addressing the recent removal of several tracks from her album Barely Legal from streaming platforms.
According to Qing Madi, the takedowns were part of a broader effort to damage her career following a legal battle with her former label. She claimed that despite successfully challenging a previous lawsuit filed against her, her former label continued to interfere with her music releases.
The singer alleged that Joy Tongo engaged in several questionable actions during their professional relationship, including forging her signature and withholding money that belonged to her.
Qing Madi expressed frustration over the ongoing conflict, saying she is becoming exhausted by the situation and urging her fans to speak out against what she described as unfair treatment.
In response, Joy Tongo dismissed the allegations as false. She denied forging Qing Madi’s signature or stealing from her and maintained that the legal dispute between them remains unresolved.
Tongo further stated that the case has not yet gone to trial and argued that an existing court injunction gives the label the legal authority to request the removal of songs and projects connected to the dispute. The disagreement marks the latest chapter in the ongoing legal and professional battle between the singer and her former record label, with both parties standing firmly by their positions.
