Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has claimed that his friendship with Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy fell apart after false rumours alleged that he had an affair with Burna Boy’s girlfriend during the singer’s visit to Ghana.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Shatta Wale said he welcomed Burna Boy warmly, providing him with accommodation, cars, and other support throughout his stay in Ghana.According to the singer, the problems began after he parted ways with some members of his former team. He alleged that they contacted influential people in his life and spread false stories in an attempt to damage his relationships.Shatta Wale claimed that the group told Burna Boy he had slept with the woman the Nigerian star brought to Ghana, adding that Burna Boy believed the allegations.He further revealed that after Burna Boy’s career reached new heights, he repeatedly tried to reconnect with him through calls and messages but received no response.
The Ghanaian singer also said he reached out to Burna Boy’s mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, but was only given reasons why the Afrobeats star could not speak with him.Despite the fallout, Shatta Wale said he remains happy for Burna Boy’s global success. However, he expressed disappointment that Burna Boy never gave him the opportunity to clear his name and explain that the allegations were untrue.
