Asanko Gold mourns victims of helicopter crash, pays tribute to fallen public servants

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two cabinet ministers and six other public servants on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by Charles Amoah, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, the company extended its heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, acknowledging their selfless service to the nation.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of senior government ministers and other dedicated public servants who served our country with dedication and honour,” the statement read.

The mining firm, which operates in the same region where the crash occurred, praised the victims for their commitment to addressing key national challenges, particularly in the areas of environmental protection and national security.

“Their commitment to addressing critical issues facing Ghana, including environmental protection and national security, exemplifies the spirit of public service,” the company said.

Asanko Gold said it stands in solidarity with the people and government in this time of national grief.

“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with all Ghanaians as we mourn this significant loss. We stand in solidarity with the people and Government of Ghana as we reflect on the lives and service of those we have lost.”

The company pledged that the legacy of the fallen public servants will not be forgotten.

“The legacy of service demonstrated by these leaders will not be forgotten, and their dedication to our country serves as an inspiration to us all,” the statement concluded.

The victims were en route to Obuasi to participate in the formal launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme, a key initiative aimed at tackling illegal mining and promoting sustainable small-scale mining practices.
