Bereaved family demands justice for final-year student killed by friend

A quiet community in Kwahu Tafo has been plunged into grief and shock following the tragic death of 17-year-old Kwasi Awuah Gorman, a final-year student of St. Joseph Technical Institute.

Gorman was fatally stabbed by his college friend, identified only as Stephen, popularly known as “Sugar”, in an altercation reportedly stemming from a money dispute.

The incident has sent ripples through the Kwahu Tafo community and the St. Joseph Technical Institute, leaving family members devastated and demanding swift justice for the promising young student.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Akwasi Dwamena, Ebenezer Gorman, the heartbroken brother of the deceased, called for immediate and thorough action from authorities. His voice filled with sorrow, Ebenezer recounted the shock and pain inflicted upon their family.

“My little nieces, who witnessed the incident, narrated the whole matter. According to them, Kwasi was with four of his friends. Suddenly, an altercation ensued over money, and they saw Akwasi hold his neck area and kept screaming that he had been stabbed. They were all students,” he recounted.

Ataa Gorman, a sister to the deceased, also expressed her disbelief and sorrow over the sudden violence.

She told Adom News that their family had been living peacefully with both boys, making the motive behind the fatal confrontation even more perplexing.

The body of Kwasi Awuah Gorman has since been transported to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, which is expected to provide critical forensic evidence for the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies swiftly moved to apprehend the suspect. Stephen, alias “Sugar”, has been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations into the tragic incident.

The police are expected to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the altercation and the specific charges that will be levelled against the suspect as their investigation progresses. The community of Kwahu Tafo now awaits the outcome of the legal process, hoping for closure and justice for Kwasi Awuah Gorman.
