The Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti, has been suspended for two weeks following a directive from the Office of the President.
The action stems from an ongoing investigation into allegations that Agbeti engaged the services of a uniformed military officer as a personal bodyguard during public events without the required authorization.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Office of the President lodged a formal complaint, prompting the Minister for Communications to act. A suspension directive was subsequently issued to allow for a full probe into the misconduct allegations.
A letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President, and dated July 15, 2025, expressed the presidency’s strong disapproval of Agbeti’s conduct. It described his use of a uniformed soldier as “inappropriate” and said the incident had brought embarrassment to the government.
The two-week suspension is expected to allow the relevant authorities to complete their investigation and determine any further disciplinary action.
