The Sissala Youth Forum has commended President John Mahama for his renewed commitment to improving road infrastructure in the Upper West Region, particularly the Sissala area, to drive inclusive development.
In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Sidiki Mumuni and Deputy Secretary, Mr Shakuul Saani Chiraa, the Forum described the government’s announcement in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to prioritise the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads in the area as timely and transformational.
The group noted that the poor state of roads in the region had long impeded economic development, restricted access to essential services, and discouraged investment.
“We are deeply encouraged by the government’s visible efforts, as outlined in the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, to prioritise the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads in the Sissala area.
“Good road infrastructure is not merely an end in itself but a strategic catalyst for unlocking economic potential, facilitating trade, improving livelihoods, and transforming our area into a hub of opportunity and progress,” parts of the statement read.
The group also urged the government to maintain the momentum in infrastructure development, ensuring that the promise was lived and the projects were completed expeditiously and sustainably.
The Forum also called on all stakeholders, including local leaders and community members, to support the initiatives for the collective good of the Sissala area and Ghana as a whole.
The Forum further praised the appointment of Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the Member of Parliament for Sissala West Constituency, as Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, describing it as a testament to President Mahama’s dedication to inclusive governance.
“This decision reflects the strategic placement of competent leaders to drive national development.
“We are confident that Mr Sukparu will contribute significantly to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda,” it added.
