The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of eight individuals, including two cabinet ministers and senior military personnel, in the military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6.
In a statement released on Thursday, the GNCCI extended its condolences to the families of the deceased, the government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and other affected institutions.
The deceased included Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Others were NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi mayor, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, and former NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, all members of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“This national tragedy has claimed the lives of eight compatriots, whose exceptional public service and unwavering commitment to national development we deeply honour,” the statement said.
The GNCCI described the loss as a profound blow to the nation and pledged continued support for national progress.
“May the memory of the departed be honoured with dignity and lasting gratitude,” the chamber added.
