I will never talk to Archipalago – Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian highlife musician Kuami Eugene has expressed his dissatisfaction about a comment social media sensation Archipalago recently made about him.

The ‘Monica’ hitmaker, speaking to Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM’s morning show Daybreak Hitz, responded to recent remarks by Archipalago who had labelled him as “disrespectful”.

Archipalago in an interview had said that Kuami Eugene once refused to speak to him over the phone when he [Archipalago] attempted to reach out for a music collaboration through a radio presenter.

“I only called to talk about a possible collaboration, but his attitude was very disrespectful. If he doesn’t want to talk, that’s fine. But he shouldn’t act like he’s above everyone,” Archipalago had said in an interview.

Because of this, Kuami Eugene has said that he will never speak to Archipalago.

Kuami has therefore dismissed the accusation and explained the circumstances under which he declined the call.

He said he had gone for a radio interview when, after the show, Archipalago called through the presenter to speak to him.

“After the interview, I was going back to my hotel, and the presenter said I should drop her on the way. While we were going to drop her off, Archipalago called her that he heard I was in the studio, and that he had a song he wanted to do with me so she should give the phone to me so he talks to me. And I said I wouldn’t talk to him,” Kuami recounted.

He clarified that he was already on a call with his mother at the time and did not appreciate the pressure to switch conversations.

“He wanted me to cut the call with my mum and talk to him. And I said I wouldn’t do that.

The lady even told him I was doing something so I would call back. I don’t know if he didn’t hear that well.”

Kuami Eugene further mentioned that Archipalago went on to criticise him on X (formerly Twitter) following the incident, which deepened the rift.

“Since then anytime he hears my issue he is angry. I pray he doesn’t get heart attack,” he added.

In the meantime, the award-winning musician has released a new song titled Do Better, a reflective track that urges personal growth and maturity in difficult times.
