JoyNews reporter detained by National Security amid coverage of McDan warehouse demolition



A journalist with JoyNews, Carlos Calony, has been detained by National Security operatives while covering the demolition of a warehouse owned by businessman Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan.

The incident, which took place at Spintex in Accra on Wednesday, July 30.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr Calony was at the scene in a professional capacity, documenting the demolition process and the growing tensions between civilians and men in military uniform, who were allegedly involved in acts of aggression against some members of the public.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

It is still unknown what triggered the confrontation, but the development has raised fresh concerns over the safety of journalists in line of duty in Ghana.
