A car was severely damaged after a fire broke out late Friday night near the Sports Stadium on the University of Ghana campus, triggering a rapid response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
In a statement posted on Facebook, the GNFS said the Legon Fire Station received a distress call at exactly 22:17 hours on Friday, 25th July 2025, reporting a vehicle on fire within the university grounds.
A fire appliance was dispatched within a minute of the call.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with both the engine compartment and interior ablaze.
“The crew responded with precision and urgency,” the GNFS noted.

The team managed to bring the blaze under control within four minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties or endangering passers-by.
No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was extensively damaged, with large portions reduced to a charred shell.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are currently ongoing.

The GNFS urged the public to promptly report fire outbreaks and to stay away from burning vehicles due to the risk of explosions and exposure to toxic fumes.
