Mamprugu Traditional Council mourns 8 lost in helicopter crash

The Mamprugu Traditional Council has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic deaths of eight distinguished Ghanaians who lost their lives in a devastating helicopter crash yesterday.

In an official statement, the Council described the incident as a heartbreaking blow that has cast a profound shadow over the nation.

“With profound sorrow and a heavy heart, we join the rest of Ghana in mourning the tragic loss of eight distinguished compatriots,” the statement said.

The sudden loss of these noble statesmen—whose lives were characterised by selfless service, steadfast dedication, and commitment to peace and national development—has left an irreplaceable void in the country’s collective spirit.

Among the deceased are prominent royal figures, whose contributions have been integral to the cultural and developmental progress of their respective kingdoms.

On behalf of the chiefs and people of Mamprugu, the Council extended its deepest condolences to the Ya-Na, King of Dagbon; the Yagbonwura, King of Gonjaland; and all other revered chiefs affected by this irreparable loss.

“Their deaths are not just a tragedy for royalty but a national loss,” the statement said.

The Council added, “They fell in active service to Ghana—a sacrifice that shall never be forgotten. Their memory and contributions will remain etched in the history of our nation, serving as a beacon of patriotism and leadership.”

To the families of the deceased, the Council offered heartfelt condolences.

“In this hour of unspeakable grief, may you find strength in the unity of a nation that mourns with you,” it added. “May the knowledge that your loved ones lived honourably and served dutifully bring you comfort.”

The statement concluded with a call for all Ghanaians to come together in prayer, reflection, and solidarity during this time of mourning.

“Let us uphold the values for which these patriots stood and recommit ourselves to the service of our country and people,” it urged.
