Melcom Group of Companies has expressed its condolences to the government and the bereaved families of the national leaders and gallant officers who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash.

Led by the Group Managing Director (MD), Ramesh Sadhwani, he signed a book of condolence at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in memory of the fallen patriots who died while on national assignment as part of efforts to fight illegal mining.

The Melcom Group MD said that as the nation mourned the devastating loss of the gallant men, the Melcom Group, part and parcel of Ghana’s history and development, felt devastated and associated with the country’s pain and anguish.

“We cannot isolate ourselves from what is happening around us,” he stated.

Mr Sadhwani said the signing was to express their heartfelt condolences to the government and the good people of Ghana, saying, “These are difficult times for President John Dramani Mahama and his government.”

Support fund

The Melcom boss said the company would consult the board of trustees of its charity arm, Melcom Care Foundation, and deliberate on contributions it could make to the support fund to be announced tomorrow.

He, however, appealed to Ghanaians to support the fund, mainly to provide relief to the government and bereaved families.

Mature democracy

The Group General Manager of Melcom Group of Companies, Francis Sam, praised the government for the programme established to enable Ghanaians to mourn the fallen heroes and offer condolences to the bereaved families. He noted that Ghanaians have so far demonstrated considerable love for one another.

“This indicates that democracy in the country has evolved and grown to the next level,” he noted.

“As Melcom Group, we will continue to provide Ghanaians with the needed support as we mourn with the government and the families of our fallen heroes,” Mr Sam added.

He called on other companies to embrace the fund and help the government provide some relief for the children of the men who stood for the nation.
