NDC supporters in Assin North remove YEA Director and appoint replacement

Tensions erupted in Assin North on Monday, July 21, as supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) forcibly removed the District Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Director, Christian Ankomahene Amoah, from office, claiming he was not the rightful appointee.

Mr Amoah, who has been occupying the office for more than two months, also serves as the Deputy Constituency Organiser of the NDC.

But party loyalists, led by the substantive organiser, stormed the YEA premises in Assin Breku, broke the locks, and replaced them before installing Samuel Bright Ativi as the new director.

The aggrieved supporters argued that the position was meant for the substantive Constituency Organiser, Mr Ativi, not his deputy.

They accused Mr Amoah of occupying the role without proper endorsement from the party’s regional or national structures.

“I don’t know how it ended up with my deputy, but I have now resumed duty as the legitimate Director,” Mr Ativi told Accra-based Citi FM.

“I have received my appointment letter and officially taken over.”
