Poetry and visual art intertwine at ‘the triune being’ exhibition

The National Museum in Accra came alive on Friday, August 8, 2025, as art lovers gathered for the grand opening of The Triune Being group exhibition.

Curated by Sally Polley and Nana Adjoa Turkson, the showcase brought together the creative works of Baaba Sarpong, Paul Lesley, and celebrated artist Godfred Amponsah Ofosu.

The evening’s highlight came when Godfred Amponsah Ofosu, whose works have earned admiration for their depth and originality, spoke passionately about the intersection of poetry and art.

In his address, he reflected on the power of words, describing them as “a force capable of shaping thought, evoking emotion, and transforming society.”

He noted that in both poetry and visual art, “every line, every brushstroke, carries intention, meaning, and impact.”

Mr. Ofosu’s thought-provoking fusion of poetic expression with visual artistry resonated strongly with attendees and caught the attention of the Pan-African Art Ambassador, Kojo Hilton. Speaking at the exhibition, Ambassador Hilton called on artists across the continent to create works that educate, inform, entertain, and inspire. He stressed that his role is to promote the value of art throughout Africa, urging creatives to ensure their work carries meaning and contributes positively to society.

Visitors explored a range of thought-provoking pieces, each inviting dialogue on identity, human connection, and cultural narratives.

Mr. Ofosu’s contribution stood out for its fusion of poetic expression with visual elements, drawing viewers into layered stories that resonated on both an emotional and intellectual level.

The opening reception, which ran from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, offered a lively atmosphere of artistic exchange, where guests engaged directly with the artists.

The Triune Being will remain open to the public until Saturday, August 30, 2025, giving more people the opportunity to experience its powerful blend of creative voices and visions.
