The Ghana Police Service has arrested an NPP activist, Daniel Adomako, popularly known on social media as ‘Sir Obama Pokuae’, in an intelligence-led operation targeting the illegal possession and public display of sophisticated weapons.
The arrest, carried out earlier today in collaboration with other security agencies, follows the circulation of images and videos allegedly shared by Mr. Adomako on social media.
The footage is said to depict individuals openly brandishing high-grade firearms.

Police say Mr. Adomako is currently assisting investigators with inquiries into the material he posted, which is believed to be linked to a wider criminal network.
The operation, which has been underway for several weeks, has already led to the recovery of a significant quantity of illegal arms and ammunition.
While the crackdown has also seen three other suspects detained over separate allegations of threats of death and false news publication, security officials emphasise that Mr. Adomako’s arrest is central to dismantling groups involved in circulating such dangerous weapons.
The Police Service reiterated its commitment to public safety and urged the public to continue providing credible information to aid the ongoing probe, assuring that investigations will be conducted in line with due process.
