PURC releases nationwide survey on Ghanaians’ views on electricity supply and pricing

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has published the findings of a new nationwide survey examining consumer preferences and perceptions of electricity supply and pricing in Ghana.

The report, titled “Consumer Preferences and Perceptions of Electricity Supply and Pricing in Ghana,” presents key insights gathered from 3,759 individuals across all 16 regions of the country.

The survey was conducted between May and June 2025.

According to the PURC, the main objective was to better understand how Ghanaians feel about the reliability of their electricity supply and whether they consider current tariffs fair and reflective of service quality.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Commission noted: “This report presents key insights from a recent nationwide survey conducted by the PURC… to understand how Ghanaians feel about their electricity supply, particularly regarding stability and pricing.”

While the full report has yet to be dissected publicly, the Commission hopes the findings will inform future regulatory decisions and contribute to more consumer-centred utility reforms.
