Team unity can power Black Queens to WAFCON glory, says Princella Adubea

Black Queens striker Princella Adubea believes the growing unity within the team could make the difference at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The forward, who is one of Ghana’s most experienced players, said the current squad is tighter than ever, both on and off the pitch. She feels this bond will be vital as they chase the country’s first continental title.

Ghana are not one of the favourites for this tournament, having only secured qualification for the first time since 2018 and have had mixed results in preparation games ahead of the tournament. They will face defending champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania in a tricky group stage.

“I think the unity in the team has improved a lot,” Adubea said in an interview with CAFOnline. “Most of us have been together for a while, and that helps make integration smoother when new players join.”

The Black Queens have come close in the past but are yet to lift the WAFCON trophy. For Adubea, there is renewed belief that this group has the tools to go all the way.

“I believe in my teammates and the work we’ve done in training,” she said. “Our preparation, our coaches and our belief will push us forward.”

Having missed the last WAFCON, Ghana’s return to the tournament carries extra motivation. “It’s always a great opportunity to play on such a huge stage, and I’m super excited to represent Ghana again.”
