Western Pharmacy has officially launched a new branch in Kumasi, with a strong focus on patient-centered care in a spacious facility.
Management says the move is to decentralise operations and provide a holistic, customer-first healthcare.
The expansion, along with additional customer services, will ensure efficiency and convenience.
The opening of the Western Pharmacy branch at Bantama, close to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, marks a significant improvement in healthcare delivery.
The expanded facility boasts at least four certified pharmacists who dispense any medication with additional considerations.
Superintendent pharmacist at Western Pharmacy, Dr Anthony Owusu Acheampong, says the pharmacy vets prescriptions and liaises with patrons for better patient care.
“We don’t just give the drug; the pharmacists who vet the prescriptions seek clarification from prescribers before we give medication. So there’s more to just dispensing drugs; championing customer first is a top priority,” he said.
The inspiration to set up a pharmacy, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Western Pharmacy, Isaac Owusu, came from a personal experience of assisting an underprivileged child to acquire an essential medication.
“This new edifice will help reach everyone like a pharmacy hall that will decentralise pharmacy and access to medicine, and this time our special services are in our price and customer treatment,” he said.
Offinsomanhene, Nana Dwamena Akenten II, lauded the CEO for decentralising access to medicine, admonishing affluent people to give back to society.
“This is a commendable feat that must be appreciated. Bringing medication to the doorsteps of people. And this is how people who have the financial capability are supposed to lead,” he said.
First-time patrons lauded the customer service of the pharmacy.
“I have been taken care of very well. I had issues with the prescription I brought, but I was patiently attended to. And so, I commend them for their services,” a 47-year-old customer said.
