Assistant captain of Cedar Stars, Ruben Quaye, has hailed his team’s resilience and unity after clinching gold and bronze medals at the 2025 Norway Cup and Gothia Cup respectively.
Speaking after the side’s triumphant return from Europe, Quaye described the moment as “an honour” to share in the pride of representing Ghana on the international stage.
“I would like to thank the Almighty God for the gift of life and strength He gave us, and to all the leaders of Cedar Stars for the opportunity and trust they had in us,” he said.
Cedar Stars, the youth team of Inter Allies, battled their way to a third-place finish at the Gothia Cup in Sweden, earning bronze medals. Quaye said the tournament tested the team’s discipline and mental toughness.
“The journey to the 2025 Gothia Cup in Sweden and the 2025 Norwegian Cup was not easy. It took months of hard training, sacrifices, and a strong belief that we could represent our country well,” he noted.
The team’s campaign reached its peak in Norway, where they were crowned champions of the prestigious Norway Cup, taking home gold medals.
“These trophies and medals are not just symbols of victory; they are proof of what discipline, unity, and determination can achieve. They remind us that success is sweeter when it is achieved for a greater cause — our beloved Ghana,” Quaye stressed.
He expressed gratitude to Ghana’s sports authorities for their support, as well as to the team’s coaches, families, and fans who cheered them on.
“We dedicate these achievements to our country, our families, our coaches, and every Ghanaian who cheered us on from near and far. This is not the end; it is only the beginning of greater things to come,” he added.
Cedar Stars’ impressive double podium finish at two of the world’s biggest youth tournaments marks a significant milestone in their development, and Quaye believes with continued support, the team will keep raising Ghana’s flag high.
