Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has challenged musicians and other public figures to use their influence to address social and national issues, stressing that celebrities have a responsibility to reflect the realities of the people they represent.
Speaking ahead of the release of his memoir, 999, scheduled for July 2026, Charly Boy said many entertainers command larger audiences than politicians and should not hesitate to speak out on matters affecting ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, music and public engagement remain powerful tools for shaping conversations and driving awareness about important issues.He expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the country, warning that the consequences could become more severe if urgent action is not taken to tackle the root causes of the crisis.
Charly Boy also highlighted the decline of family values as a major challenge facing society. He noted that economic hardship has placed enormous pressure on many households, sometimes leading parents to encourage unhealthy or questionable paths to financial success.
The veteran entertainer further argued that traditional parenting methods may no longer be effective for younger generations, adding that parents must adapt to the changing realities of raising Gen Z and millennial children.
Despite his concerns, he remains hopeful about Nigeria’s future. He believes the country’s progress will be driven by innovative and determined young people who are creating opportunities for themselves rather than waiting for change to happen.

Reflecting on his younger years, Charly Boy admitted he was rebellious and often found himself in conflict with authority figures, including his father. However, he said he remained focused on his ambitions and never lost sight of his goals despite the challenges he faced.
