Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze has expressed surprise after discovering the cost of watching a FIFA World Cup match at a fan viewing centre in Dallas, United States.
The actor shared his reaction in a video while attending a fan festival for the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between DR Congo and Portugal.
He was amazed after learning that fans were paying $30 for parking at the viewing area, which he compared to about ₦40,000.
According to Ikedieze, the experience was similar to a Nigerian viewing centre because supporters were watching the game on large screens while enjoying the match atmosphere outside the stadium.“People who have come to watch the match, not even in the stadium, are paying $30,” he said, expressing his surprise at the cost.
The actor also pointed out the heavy security presence and additional expenses at the venue, saying the experience highlighted the difference between watching football events in Nigeria and the United States.
However, the fan zone itself was reportedly free for attendees, with visitors only paying for services such as parking and transportation options.Ikedieze’s comments came during the World Cup group stage match where DR Congo played to a 1-1 draw against Portugal.The actor’s reaction has sparked conversations online, with many fans discussing the differences in football viewing experiences and event costs between Nigeria and the US.
