Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has been injured after a shooting incident occurred outside her brother’s residence in Ghana.
According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday morning at the home of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, Adwoa Safo’s younger brother. Six bodyguards attached to Akofena were arrested by police shortly after the shooting.Sources said Adwoa Safo was inside a vehicle when gunshots were fired. She reportedly sustained injuries from pellets but her condition is said to be stable and not life-threatening.
A source explained that the weapon used was believed to be a pump-action gun, with pellets causing injuries around her upper body, including her chest and neck area.The Ghana Police Service has begun investigations into the incident to determine what led to the shooting and the events surrounding the arrests.
The incident comes amid reported tensions within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo. Disagreements have reportedly emerged over the succession process and leadership of the organisation.
Meanwhile, lawyer Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka, who represents the Kristo Asafo Mission, stated that the Council of Elders had confirmed Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the successor of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo.However, claims about what led to the shooting remain disputed.
While reports from Adwoa Safo’s side allege that she was attacked while at the residence, another account claims she attempted to enter the private property and that security personnel fired warning shots.Police authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.
