Actress and film producer Ruth Kadiri has opened up about her views on marriage, saying she never grew up feeling pressured to settle down or fantasising about marriage.
In a recent interview with Ifedayo Agoro, the Nollywood star explained that marriage was never a major goal for her while growing up.
According to her, she always believed she was “a catch” and that anyone who married her would be fortunate.“I’ve never really been the girl who sits down and thinks about marriage. It wasn’t a thing for me. I didn’t even know whether I was going to marry. I knew I was a catch and anyone that was going to marry me was going to be lucky,” she said.Kadiri also shared how she met her husband through work after he approached her for a conversation.
She said she was not initially interested in him, but their discussion eventually shifted to business topics, including importation and opportunities abroad.She added that at a certain moment, she felt a spiritual conviction that he was the man she would marry.“As I was about to walk away, the Spirit of God told me he’s my husband.
Two days later, I blocked him, but he went the extra mile to find me. Months later, he proposed to me and I accepted,” she revealed.The actress noted that although she initially tried to distance herself, his persistence eventually led to their relationship and marriage.Kadiri, who is also known for her work as a screenwriter and producer, said marriage has never defined her personal identity or ambitions.
