Australian TV presenter Karl Stefanovic is reportedly at risk of losing his position following controversy surrounding his podcast interview with British activist Tommy Robinson.
Stefanovic, known for hosting the popular breakfast show Today, appeared to praise Robinson’s “courage” and “tenacity” during the episode of his independent podcast, which also featured promotional images of the two together.
The interview sparked internal concern at Channel Nine, with reports suggesting emergency discussions were held after the episode was released online. The podcast was later removed from major platforms including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
Although the show is said to be independently produced and not officially linked to Channel Nine, the network has reportedly begun reviewing its relationship with Stefanovic. Officials stated they are treating the situation seriously while distancing themselves from the content and guest selection.Robinson, a controversial figure in the UK, was previously denied entry to Australia due to his criminal record.
At this stage, negotiations are reportedly ongoing regarding Stefanovic’s future with the network.
