Millie Bobby Brown and Louis Partridge say their genuine friendship off-screen has helped shape the growing romance between their characters in Enola Holmes 3.The pair, who return as Enola Holmes and Viscount Tewkesbury, shared that they spend so much time laughing together on set that filming often feels effortless.
Partridge explained that they rarely need extensive preparation before scenes because their natural chemistry allows them to perform comfortably. Brown joked that they constantly bring out each other’s playful side and often end up laughing over the most random things.
She humorously dismissed the idea that Partridge is always serious, saying people often tell her how intelligent he is after meeting him, something she teasingly pretends to find surprising. Partridge described their friendship as having a sibling-like quality, adding that they are comfortable enough to constantly tease one another.
The third installment follows Enola as she travels to Malta after becoming engaged to Tewkesbury. However, their future together is interrupted when Sherlock Holmes mysteriously disappears, leading Enola into one of her darkest and most dangerous investigations yet.
Director Philip Barantini said he wanted the film to have a more mature tone while remaining enjoyable for younger audiences. He revealed that Brown, who has served as a producer on the franchise from the beginning, shared the same vision for expanding the story’s emotional depth.
Actor Himesh Patel, who takes on a larger role as Dr. Watson after briefly appearing in the previous film, praised Brown’s dedication to the franchise. He described her as someone who passionately defends the story and enjoys discussing creative ideas to make the films stronger.Brown admitted she has never been afraid to speak her mind, saying she feels deeply connected to Enola because she helped bring the project to life from its earliest stages.
She explained that she protects the character because she wants every detail to feel authentic, although she avoids telling fellow actors how to perform.
Partridge recalled one moment during filming when Brown insisted Enola would have solved an important clue much earlier. While he joked that production paused for hours over the debate, Brown laughed and insisted he was exaggerating, though she maintained that staying true to the character was worth the discussion.
The actress also addressed online criticism after fans questioned whether Enola’s manicure looked too modern for the film’s historical setting. Brown dismissed the comments with humor, saying she enjoys a good manicure and believes Enola would too. She added that people often focus on minor details online but hopes audiences will instead appreciate the story and characters.
Enola Holmes 3 continues the detective’s journey with higher stakes, a deeper mystery and a more mature chapter in the beloved Netflix franchise.
