Afrobeats singer Mr Real has stirred controversy after reacting to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s recent advice encouraging Nigerians to take up small businesses amid the country’s economic challenges.
The First Lady had suggested that people could improve their income by venturing into low-cost businesses such as selling akara, kulikuli, and roasted corn, a comment that generated mixed reactions across the country.
Responding on Instagram, Mr Real described the advice as insensitive and expressed frustration over the economic situation.
The singer, best known for his hit song Legbegbe, wrote that he would rather become a bandit than sell akara or kulikuli. He added that if he were eventually arrested, he believed the government would rehabilitate him.“I go rather join bandit than to sell kulikuli and akara. And my target will be only politicians. At least if I am caught, they will rehabilitate me.”His post has since sparked widespread debate on social media, with many users sharing differing opinions on both his comments and the First Lady’s earlier remarks.
