Music superstar Shakira has teamed up with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy to release “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.The energetic song was unveiled on Friday and is already creating excitement among football and music fans around the world.
Packed with uplifting lyrics about unity, determination, and chasing dreams, “Dai Dai” celebrates the spirit of football and the global connection the sport brings.
The anthem also honors legendary football icons including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah, while highlighting football-loving nations across different continents.Beyond the music, the project also carries a humanitarian message. Royalties from the song will go toward the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative focused on helping children around the world gain access to quality education and football opportunities.
Shakira has also pledged her personal royalties to support the cause.The release marks another memorable World Cup moment for Shakira, who previously delivered global tournament hits like “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” during the 2010 World Cup and “La La La” in 2014.
For Nigeria, the collaboration is another proud milestone as Burna Boy becomes one of the few Nigerian artists to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song, following Davido’s appearance on the 2022 World Cup soundtrack.
Adding to the excitement surrounding the tournament, Nigerian music star Rema is expected to headline the opening ceremony in Los Angeles on June 12, while Shakira is set to perform during the final on July 19.“Dai Dai” joins a growing list of songs released ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
