Big news for Nigerian football fans! Nigeria is bringing the prestigious CAF Awards back home in 2026 after Morocco hosted it for four straight years.The country will also host the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.
While the big meeting will hold in Abuja in October 2026, the glamorous Awards night is heading to Lagos in December 2026.This move was confirmed after President Bola Tinubu held direct talks with CAF President Patrice Motsepe at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.
Nigeria last hosted the CAF Awards in 2017. Before that, the country successfully hosted it in 2008, 2013, and 2015.
Many are excited that the awards are finally returning after nearly a decade away.Known as the “Oscars of African Football,” the CAF Awards celebrate the best players, coaches, and teams across the continent.
Fans are already hoping Nigerian stars will have a big moment on home soil, especially with the event falling during the lively Detty December season in Lagos.
