British-Nigerian rapper Skepta has voiced concern over what he described as growing injustice and hardship in Nigeria, calling on celebrities and the international community to pay more attention to the struggles Nigerians are facing.
The rapper, whose real name is Joseph Adenuga, shared the emotional message during a video broadcast where he urged more people to use their platforms to speak up about the situation in the country.
According to him, Nigerians are known for being resilient and positive despite difficult conditions, but many are silently suffering and need support.“There is so much injustice in Nigeria,” Skepta said.
“Whenever I can, whether it is at my shows, verbally or through images, whatever I can do, we are going to speak up against injustice at all times.”He also appealed to influential voices around the world to help amplify the concerns of Nigerians and bring more global attention to the issues affecting the country.“Nigerians need help. We need people to speak up for us as well.
We need to protect Nigerians,” he said.
The rapper added that while Nigerians often make difficult situations look manageable, the reality is that many people are struggling.“This is my message to the people; please, I know that we are resilient and we make everything look good, but we need help too. Please, help us,” he appealed.Skepta has previously spoken about Nigeria and social issues affecting young people, often using his music and public appearances to address injustice and cultural identity.
