Gospel singer Florence Obinim has responded to recent comments made by her husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, regarding how he wants his funeral to be handled when he dies.
The controversial cleric had publicly stated that only his biological children and members of his church should be in charge of his burial arrangements. He also insisted that his wife and extended family should not take part in organising his funeral, a remark that sparked widespread discussion online.
Reacting to the statement during a radio interview, Florence Obinim said she holds no resentment over her husband’s position and respects his openness in expressing his wishes.
According to her, she appreciates the fact that he was honest about his feelings rather than keeping them private.“What I will tell him is, may God bless him for saying what he feels.
It would have been painful for him to keep it to himself, but for him to say it publicly, I will say God bless him,” she said. When asked if she would attend his funeral should he pass away before her, the gospel singer declined to give a direct answer, stating that the matter should be left for another time.“For that, let us put it on hold,” she added. Her response follows a church service where Bishop Obinim reiterated that his funeral arrangements should be handled strictly by his children and church members, warning against interference from other family members.
The discussion has continued to generate reactions across social media, with many weighing in on the couple’s unusual public exchange regarding end-of-life wishes.
