Nollywood actor Stan Nze has expressed disappointment after several phones were reportedly stolen during the service of songs held in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo.
Speaking in an emotional Instagram video, Stan Nze revealed that more than five phones went missing during the event, describing the incident as heartbreaking given the solemn nature of the gathering.
The actor, who served as the event’s master of ceremonies and was a close friend of the late Alex Ekubo, said he struggled to understand how anyone could attend a memorial service and still choose to steal from grieving attendees.
According to him, the incident raised serious concerns about the values and mindset of many people in society.
He questioned how meaningful change could happen in the country if individuals failed to act with honesty, compassion and integrity in their everyday lives.Stan noted that at one point, organisers reportedly had to restrict people from leaving the venue while efforts were made to locate the missing devices.
He added that some attendees were left devastated after discovering their phones had disappeared.
The actor stressed that while many Nigerians often blame the government for the country’s challenges, citizens must also take responsibility for their own actions.
He argued that corruption, dishonesty and lack of empathy at the individual level contribute to broader societal problems.
His comments came shortly after actresses Bam Bam and Susan Peters publicly disclosed that their phones were among those stolen during the event.
Stan Nze ended his message by urging Nigerians to embrace kindness, honesty and accountability in their daily interactions, saying positive change must begin within communities and among individuals.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users condemning the theft and expressing sympathy for those affected during a moment of mourning.
