Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has appealed to fans to stop comparing him with his twin brother and former P-Square partner, Paul Okoye, or any other artiste.
Speaking during a recent video broadcast, the singer said he wants to focus on building his solo career without the constant comparisons that often follow him.
According to Mr P, he believes every artiste has a unique path and wants to be appreciated for his individuality.“Stop comparing me with my brother or anyone else. Enough of the comparisons. I want to do me. There is no one like me. I want to do my thing and enjoy the rewards of my hard work,” he said.Mr P also reflected on the impact of his reunion with his brother, claiming it slowed down the progress he had been making as a solo artiste. He explained that before the reunion, his social media presence was growing rapidly, but that momentum reduced afterward.
The singer noted that he has remained active and relevant in the entertainment industry for nearly three decades, adding that he believes his contributions to music deserve greater recognition and respect.
His comments have sparked conversations among fans, with many sharing differing opinions on the long-standing comparisons between the former P-Square stars.
While some continue to compare the brothers’ individual careers, others believe both artistes should be celebrated for their separate achievements.
Despite the discussions, Mr P’s message remains clear: he wants to be judged on his own merits and given the space to continue his journey as a solo performer.
