Afrobeats star Rema lit up the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony on Friday night at SoFi Stadium in the United States, performing alongside BLACKPINK’s Lisa and Brazilian singer Anitta in a global showcase of music and culture.
The three stars came together for the live debut of their collaborative track Goals, delivering a high-energy performance that blended Afrobeats, K-pop, and Latin pop into a vibrant opening celebration for the tournament.
Representing Africa, Asia, and Latin America, the trio’s performance highlighted the World Cup’s global spirit. Rema appeared in a white hooded outfit and closed the song with a confident Afrobeats-inspired rap about success, ambition, and “scoring goals” in both music and life.
Goals, which was released in May as part of the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack, has already begun gaining traction with fans worldwide. The track was produced by Grammy-winning producer Cirkut alongside Bava and Pink Slip.Other artists who performed at the ceremony included Future and Tyla, adding more star power to the Los Angeles event, which took place shortly before the United States faced Paraguay in the tournament’s opening match.
The performance also followed another major music moment in Mexico, where Burna Boy joined Shakira to debut the official tournament anthem Dai Dai.
