Nigerian singer, Skales has stirred up the long-running debate about who earns more between musicians and footballers. His take? Footballers enjoy far more stable and reliable income than artists in the music industry. In a recent interview, the ‘Shake Body’ hitmaker explained that footballers don’t even need to be regular starters or big names to keep collecting their money. In music, however, it’s usually only the currently hot artists who are cashing out big.
“Football money is greater than music,” Skales said. “The difference is that you don’t even have to be a big star or a starter in football to make money. But music money is seasonal. An artist can be up today and down tomorrow.
Artists who have been able to stay relevant consistently are backed by the divine.“However, in football, even without being relevant you will still be making money. There are some footballers you don’t even know their names but they are earning well. Music is also crazy money but sports money is different.”
Skales pointed out that while musicians can make huge sums during their peak moments, football contracts provide consistent pay throughout the agreement period, regardless of form or playing time.
