Money Doesn’t Always Fix Depression, Says Timini Egbuson

Popular Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared his thoughts on the connection between money, happiness, and depression, saying financial success does not automatically solve emotional struggles.

The actor reacted to a viral post on X which claimed that many people battling depression only needed money to feel better.Responding to the post, Timini simply stated that “it’s not always about money,” suggesting that depression can still affect people regardless of their financial status.

His comment sparked conversations online, with many people agreeing that although financial problems can contribute to depression, money alone cannot heal emotional pain caused by grief, anxiety, loneliness, or personal struggles.Others, however, argued that lack of money remains one of the biggest causes of depression for many Nigerians, especially with the rising cost of living and economic hardship.

Timini’s statement has continued to generate mixed reactions, with some praising his perspective while others insisted that financial stability can greatly reduce stress and improve mental wellbeing.
