Nigerian music producer and singer Sarz has admitted that excessive confidence and ego once stopped him from collaborating with many people in the music industry.

Speaking during an interview with The Fadar, the “Back Outside” crooner revealed that he used to believe he was better than most of his colleagues when he first started making music.

According to Sarz, he was extremely determined to prove himself and impress everyone, but that mindset also made him hot-headed and unwilling to fully connect with others in the industry.“When I started making music, I was very hot-headed. I really wanted to impress everybody.

I just thought I was the best thing to exist in music,” he said. The producer explained that his perspective changed with time and experience.

He said he eventually realised that no one knows everything and that growth comes from being open to learning from others.

Sarz added that he is now more willing to collaborate with different people, including newcomers in the industry, because everyone has something valuable to offer creatively.“But now I understand that I don’t know it all. I’m always willing to learn from anyone — even someone that just started yesterday,” he added.

Over the years, Sarz has become one of the most respected producers in Afrobeats, working with top artistes across Africa and helping shape the sound of modern African music.
