Concern is growing among Nollywood fans after veteran actor Benedict Johnson was confirmed to be battling a health challenge that requires surgery.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has revealed that the respected actor is currently receiving medical care and that the organisation is actively supporting him throughout his treatment process.
The update came after a video of Johnson undergoing an MRI scan surfaced online, sparking questions and concerns from fans who wanted to know more about his condition.
AGN President Abubakar Yakubu confirmed that the actor is ill and needs surgical attention, assuring the public that the guild is aware of the situation and is doing everything possible to assist him.“Benedict Johnson is ill and requires surgery.
The guild is aware, and we are giving our full support to ensure he gets the needed treatment,” Yakubu said.Johnson is one of the veteran actors who contributed to the growth of Nollywood.
He featured in notable productions including Living in Bondage and Stolen Bible, movies that helped introduce Nigerian cinema to audiences across Africa and beyond.Before becoming widely recognised as an actor, Johnson also explored music and had a career as a recording artist during the late 1980s.Fans and colleagues have continued to send messages of support and prayers, hoping for his quick recovery as he prepares for surgery.
